Stress - According to research published by Eastern Kentucky University 80 percent of American workers feel stress on the job. And, nearly half say they need 'real' help in dealing with job-related stress. Johns Hopkins University’s findings published in JAMA Internal Medicine suggest that mindful meditation can help ease psychological stress.

Joy - According to a paper published in US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health just eight weeks of mindfulness training is enough to cause significant changes in the brain associated with increased happiness.

Relationships - According Psychology today there is a positive correlation between mindfulness and relationships satisfaction, which leads to an overall elevated sense of well being in life. Mindfulness helps us be more present and attentive, lowers negative emotional reactivity,improves emotion regulation, enhances self-awareness, and makes us more empathetic.

Productivity - In an article in Science Daily “A new comprehensive analysis of mindfulness research, co-directed by a management scientist at Case Western Reserve University, suggests that injecting a corporate culture of mindfulness not only improves focus, but the ability to manage stress and how employees work together.”

Personal story - Mindfulness has changed my life. I went from a stressed out, unhappy, frazzled employee to feeling so much joy in my life that I now teach it to others.

Connie is Co-founder of Retreat to Joy. She began with a vision to make mindfulness an integral part of local corporate culture. This culminated into a mission to build and transform individuals and companies through mindfulness so as to help grow and nurture a kinder Wichita. With over 30 years of corporate marketing experience including 20 years of healthcare marketing and regional training in her background, she hit the ground running and started Retreat to Joy in 2016. Connie is a MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) teacher trained through UCSD and has also participated in Google Search Inside Yourself Institute training. She believes Joy is being in the present moment and that World Peace begins in Wichita, KS.
